The Great Wagon Road carried the hopeful settlers out of Philadelphia and into the wilds of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The Wilderness Trail was originally the Warrior's Path and its 1000-mile length traversed the Shenandoah Valley on into untamed Kentucky.
