A comedy-of-errors story about a peasant who comes into a corruption- ridden small town geared up for a visit from a federal government inspector. Mistaking the ma, Calzonzin, for the inspector, the crooked local officials fawn on the confused Calzonzin and ply him with bribes. Meanwhile the townsfolk want his help. Just after Calzonzin leaves town and the local officials are celebrating, the real government inspector arrives.
