The Woodstock Jazz Festival, New York, 1981, was a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Creative Music Studio.

Founded in 1971 by Karl Berger and Ornette Coleman, the CMS is a community of world class musicians performing in an atmosphere that disintigrated conventions of form and style and restructured the music in new and exciting ways, ushering in a whole new generation of jazz.
