This recoring is a commemorative performance marking the 100th anniversary of the death of Verdi in his hometown of Busseto.

The Italian composer we born here on October 10, 1813, the son of a grocer.

With the background the town regularly puts on Verdi-centered concerts and festivals, the major one being the celebrated "Voci Verdiane" singing competition.

On January 27, 2001, the exact anniversary of Verdi's death, a new production of Aida was performed which drew great attention.
