George Herman "Babe" Ruth is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player who ever lived. He batted a career total of 714 home runs, and was the first player to hit 60 in a single season. He had a lifetime batting average of .342 and a slugging percentage of .690. There were many sleepless nights for pitchers who had to face him in the morning.

But Babe Ruth was more than just a baseball player. He became an all- American celebrity for the way he celebrated life. A national hero who never begrudged an autograph or the handshake of a child.
