In 1939, Bluey flees hard times in England and travels to Austrailia. The new life he find in a wild corner of Australia will require every drop of strength and courage he has just to survive.
When he takes on the harsh existence of a sugar cane cutter, Bluey discovers that being accepted into a hard drinking, tightly knit community is tougher than the sweaty, dangerous work the cane cutters do every day in the fields. A global war and violent local prejudices rock their community and one final massive disaster threatens not just their livelihood, but their very lives.
